Hormones can affect just about everything in the body. When something is abnormal about the way your body has been functioning recently, and no external factors seem to be at play, oftentimes the most common explanation is a hormonal change. Night sweats are common—one study showing that 41 percent of the study’s participants had experienced severe night sweating within the last month. This may seem to be a high percentage as it is, but it is also likely that this percentage is much higher outside of the confines of a study, especially since night sweats are not always reported to doctors.
